Repurposing isn’t reposting. It’s taking one idea and rebuilding it in each network’s native format, so it reads like it belongs there, while the voice stays identical everywhere. Change the shape, never the stance. Done right, one brief becomes five posts that each look native and all sound like you.

The reason it’s worth the effort: your audience is spread thin. The typical user moves between about seven networks a month, and short-form video alone returns the highest ROI of any format, so a single idea has to travel, and travel in the shape each platform actually rewards. An identical caption pasted five times ignores all of that and underperforms nearly everywhere.

What changes per network

The format changes because each network rewards a different shape. Keep the idea; retool the delivery:

  • LinkedIn. A point-of-view text post. Text still drives the most engagement here, so lead with the insight and skip the preamble.
  • Instagram. A Reel. Short-form video is the format that moves, with the caption carrying the voice.
  • Facebook. The same short clip, framed for a wider, discovery-minded audience.
  • X. One sharp idea, or a thread when the argument needs room. Timeliness beats polish.
  • TikTok. A native, trend-aware video with the hook up front and the brand voice in the script.

What never changes

The voice never changes. Your stance, your vocabulary, the claims you’ll stand behind, and the one idea itself stay constant across all five posts. That constancy is the entire point of repurposing over reposting: readers who see you on three networks should meet the same brand three times, not three impostors.

This is where most repurposing quietly fails, because each network’s native tool nudges the voice a little until the set no longer matches. Training the system on your brand voice and refusing to ship generic AI phrasing is what holds the line.

A worked example

Say the idea is "screenshot reporting hides the real numbers." One brief, five native posts:

  • LinkedIn: a short text post making the argument, ending on the cost of stale data.
  • Instagram: a Reel showing a screenshot deck versus a live dashboard, caption in-voice.
  • Facebook: the same clip, framed for a broader audience with a plain-language hook.
  • X: a two-post thread, the claim then the fix.
  • TikTok: a fast talking-to-camera take, hook first, one concrete example.

Five posts, one idea, one voice, each shaped for where it lives. That’s repurposing, and it’s the difference between showing up everywhere and showing up as yourself everywhere.
