Schema Markup That Wins AI Citations (Copy-Paste Examples)
Which schema types AI engines actually read, with copy-paste JSON-LD for Article and Organization, and where structured data still helps AI visibility in 2026.

On this page
Schema markup helps AI engines understand and cite your pages by labeling your entities in a format machines read cleanly. On non-Google engines it correlates with meaningfully higher AI visibility, and it’s good hygiene everywhere. Here are the types that matter and copy-paste JSON-LD to start from.
Does schema help AI citations?
Yes, most clearly on the non-Google engines, where structured data correlates with roughly 30 to 40% higher AI visibility. Google says schema isn’t required for its AI features, but Article, Organization, and Breadcrumb markup still clarify who you are and what a page is, which is exactly what an engine needs to resolve and cite you confidently. It rarely hurts and often helps.
The types that matter
- Article. Names the headline, author, and dates so an engine can attribute the page to a real person and a real update.
- Organization. Establishes your brand as an entity, with name, logo, and sameAs links to your other profiles.
- BreadcrumbList. Describes where the page sits, helping engines map your site’s structure.
- FAQPage. Still useful for entity understanding, even though the rich-result stars it used to earn are gone.
Copy-paste examples
A minimal Article block, filled with your real values:
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"Article","headline":"Your Page Title","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Real Author"},"datePublished":"2026-07-01","dateModified":"2026-07-13"}
And an Organization block for your site-wide entity:
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"Organization","name":"Your Brand","url":"https://yourbrand.com","logo":"https://yourbrand.com/logo.png","sameAs":["https://www.linkedin.com/company/yourbrand"]}
Where schema stopped mattering
Don’t add schema chasing visual features that no longer render. Google removed FAQ rich results from Search in May 2026, so the markup earns no stars now; keep it for entity understanding, not decoration. For where schema fits the wider citation strategy, read the AI-search playbook and the GEO content checklist. Savra’s SEO domain generates this markup at scale.
